Building the foundation first — how Belcorp is operationalizing AI across 14 countries, three brands, and 1 million beauty consultants.
Except from our interview with Venkat Gopalan, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Technology Officer & Chief Data Officer at Belcorp.

What operational challenges were you trying to solve when you set out to modernize Belcorp's enterprise AI foundation?
We were seeking to accelerate growth and productivity through AI, while creating the foundation to scale innovation, automation, and AI responsibly across the enterprise.
Belcorp operates across 14 countries with three distinct brands and a multi-channel model spanning direct selling, ecommerce, retail stores, B2B2C, and marketplaces. The complexity of our enterprise environment is something we navigate every single day. We had a clear AI vision. The opportunity was building the foundation to execute it at scale.
We had already made significant investments in our Snowflake-based Unified Data Platform, but connecting that data layer to real business execution, across workflows, teams, and markets, required an integration and orchestration capability that traditional approaches simply couldn't deliver at the pace we needed.
What we were looking for was the connective tissue across the enterprise: unifying workflows, enabling low-code automation, and supporting the kind of AI agent orchestration that's rapidly becoming central to how modern enterprises operate. The AI landscape evolves too fast to bet on a single model. Different business functions demand different capabilities, and operating across 14 countries means navigating different regulatory environments. LLM-agnosticity, AI safety, security, and governance built in from the start are essential requirements for scaling AI across a global enterprise.
How has AI become operational at Belcorp and where is it showing up most visibly across the organization?
AI is operational across Belcorp in two distinct ways: as foundational enterprise capability and as visible experiences for our beauty consultants, consumers and employees.
Our foundational data integration, API management, API orchestration, and automation layer — connected to our Unified Data Platform on Snowflake — gives our teams the connected data and workflow foundation needed to move faster, scale new capabilities, and accelerate AI adoption across the enterprise. It also enables low-code and no-code development, empowering teams to build and deploy internal applications rapidly without heavy engineering dependency.
One of the most visible expressions of this is Isa — our AI-powered virtual assistant built to support beauty consultants across their entire journey, from onboarding and training to customer engagement, conversational commerce, and business development. Isa delivers intelligent, personalized support at scale across our consultant network.
We're also expanding our Agentic AI strategy across Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Merchandising, R&D, and Brand teams — building intelligent workflows where AI agents support decision-making, orchestration, and operational execution.
What's changed inside Belcorp since you began building this Enterprise AI foundation?
The most meaningful shift has been organizational, not just technical. Our technology and engineering teams are spending less time managing fragmented tools and integration complexity, and more time partnering with the business to accelerate innovation and deliver new capabilities. That change compounds quickly.
We’ve experienced:
~30% improvement in data integration efficiency
~40% reduction in development effort for low‑code/no‑code applications
Up to 20% improvement in time‑to‑market through AI‑driven workflow automation
Estimated up to 20% cost reductions through platform consolidation
These are early indicators, and Belcorp expects them to improve as Agentic AI initiatives scale.
The underlying driver of all these gains is simplification. Consolidating fragmented tools into a unified platform reduces operational complexity, creates cost efficiencies, and gives both business and technology teams the agility to move faster. When your foundation is simpler, everything built on top of it moves faster too.
We are also seeing encouraging business impact through improved consultant experiences, faster execution of business initiatives, and growth-focused AI use cases across multiple functions.
What role does your relationship with AWS play in how Belcorp is approaching enterprise AI at scale?
AWS has been a strategic partner to Belcorp since 2011 and plays a critical role in helping us scale our AI transformation across the enterprise.
Our platforms, applications, and core technology ecosystem run on AWS, providing the scalability, security, and reliability needed to operate across 14 countries and support millions of customer and consultant interactions.
As we accelerate our Gen AI and Agentic AI strategy, AWS continues to be a key innovation partner. Through Amazon Bedrock, we have access to leading foundation models and the flexibility to leverage the best capabilities for different business needs. We also work closely with AWS subject matter experts to identify, design, and scale high-value Gen AI and Agentic AI use cases across the organization.
We were selected to participate in AWS Generative AI Innovation Center initiatives, which has enabled us to accelerate experimentation, rapidly develop high-value use cases, and build enterprise AI capabilities faster.
The combination of a strong cloud foundation, access to emerging AI technologies, and deep collaboration with AWS enables Belcorp to scale AI responsibly while driving growth, productivity, and innovation across the business.
How do you think about the operating model of an AI-native enterprise — and is that where Belcorp is headed?
We are at a genuinely exciting inflection point. Generative AI and Agentic AI are reshaping what work looks like entirely. When agents can orchestrate workflows, synthesize data, and surface recommendations in real time, the operating model evolves around that capability in powerful ways.
At Belcorp, our goal is to be an AI-native enterprise where AI is embedded directly into operations, consultant journeys, and business decision-making. That requires a foundation that connects AI agents, enterprise systems, and trusted data in a way that is governed, scalable, and adaptable as the technology continues to evolve.
What platforms like UnifyApps influence most is our ability to operationalize Gen AI and Agentic AI at enterprise scale through connected data, workflows, governance, and reusable capabilities. The future belongs to organizations that build modular, composable, and reusable capabilities, treating AI as a permanent and central part of how value is created and delivered across the enterprise.
Equally important, AI-native enterprises empower employees to work alongside AI, allowing teams to focus more on creativity, innovation, decision-making, and value creation.
What would you tell other enterprise leaders who are earlier in their AI journey?
The most important thing I would share is to start with outcomes and let technology serve that purpose. The leaders who are winning with AI are the ones who began by asking what business problems they needed to solve and worked backwards from there. Outcomes are the anchor, and technology is the enabler.
From there, three investments matter most.
First, data and context. A strong, trusted, and well-governed data foundation, enriched with the right business context, is the single most important investment an organization can make.
Second, modular and composable architecture. Building reusable capabilities, services, workflows, and AI components gives organizations the flexibility to evolve as technology changes.
Third, people. Building AI fluency across the organization and investing in continuous learning are what turn technology investments into sustainable transformation.
At Belcorp, our principles are simple but deliberate: standardize where scale matters, specialize where differentiation matters, embed governance and AI safety from the beginning, and tie every AI initiative to a measurable business outcome. With those principles in place, the pace of innovation accelerates on its own.
What capability or outcome are you most excited to unlock next?
What excites me most is seeing the full potential of our beauty consultants realized through AI. Across 14 countries, we have hundreds of thousands of consultants who are entrepreneurs at heart. They build relationships, they understand their customers deeply, and they drive our business every day. The opportunity to give each of them an intelligent, personalized AI companion that helps them learn faster, engage customers more meaningfully, and grow their business with greater confidence is something I find genuinely inspiring.
Beyond the consultant experience, I'm excited about what becomes possible when AI agents are truly embedded across Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Merchandising, R&D, and Brand teams — compressing decision cycles, surfacing the right insight at the right moment, and executing with greater precision across 14 markets.
Ultimately, what excites me most is combining the power of AI with the entrepreneurial spirit of our beauty consultants. If we can help every consultant learn faster, serve customers better, and grow their business with greater confidence, while enabling our employees to operate with greater intelligence and speed, that creates meaningful value for everyone in the Belcorp ecosystem.
