Capabilities is where you turn the Enterprise Search agent's built-in functions on and off — the ready-made abilities the platform ships, like web search, running code, or creating a document. The tab opens on Choose what the agent can do, with the note "Enable the capabilities the agent can use when responding to requests and completing tasks."

What is the Capabilities section?

Unlike Connectors — where you add apps and choose which of their actions the agent may use — Capabilities is a settings list of everything that's built in, each with a toggle. Two counts sit on the screen and mean different things: the pill beside the section title Capabilities is how many built-in capabilities exist in total, and the pill beside Choose what the agent can do is how many are currently switched on for this agent.

Search to find a capability and switch it on — it's saved for you, and most built-in capabilities need no setup beyond the toggle. A few, like Web Search, also show a Configure button once switched on, opening a drawer with settings specific to that capability, such as which model powers it. The Configure button is disabled while the capability itself is off, and turning a capability off doesn't erase whatever you configured — it's kept and reused if you switch it back on.

How do I turn a capability on or off?

Find the capability in the list and use its toggle. Each toggle saves immediately — there's no separate Save button on this tab; if a save doesn't go through, the switch flips back. Turn on only what the agent needs: extra capabilities widen what the model may attempt, so a focused set behaves more predictably.

What built-in capabilities can my agent use?

The tab shows one flat, searchable list. It includes capabilities such as the ones below — the purpose column only describes what each one is for; it isn't a heading on screen.

PurposeCapabilities
EssentialClarify From User (ask for clarification when the query is ambiguous), Search Knowledge Base (find specific information from existing knowledge).
ResearchWeb Search (search the live web for current information), Deep Research (run multi-step research workflows across many sources).
ProcessingAnalyse File, Execute Code, Ingest Knowledge (add new documents mid-conversation), Document Vision.
GenerationImage Generation, Generate Chart (bar, line, pie, or scatter), and the document creators Create PPTX, Create PDF, Create DOCX, and Create Excel / CSV.

Which capabilities are available can change as the platform adds more — the list on the tab is always the current set.
