Skills are the capabilities your A2A Server advertises on its agent card — what calling agents see when they discover your server and decide what to ask it for.

Overview

Skills is the default section when you open an A2A Server, headed Skills — "Define the skills exposed in A2A Server" — with a New Skill button. Each card shows the skill's name, description, tags, and an Example Query list.

When the server is created, skills are seeded automatically from the exposed agent's topics, so you usually start with a list to refine rather than a blank page. If there are none, a single New Skill button fills the space.

Note: Skills seeded from topics stay in sync with the agent. Renaming or editing a topic updates its skill's name and description, deleting the topic removes the skill, and new topics add skills. To keep your own wording, create a separate skill with New Skill.

Adding or Editing a Skill

Click New Skill (or the pencil icon that appears when hovering a card, which opens Edit Skill). The dialog asks for:

Field

Required

Details

Name

Yes

Placeholder example: "Example: Financial Research".

Description

Yes

Placeholder example: "Example: Performs market analysis and evaluates investment opportunities".

Example Usage

No

"Show a representative use case for this skill" — add one or more example queries (e.g. "What's the P/E ratio comparison between Apple and Microsoft"), with Add another Example for more.

Tags

Yes, at least one

Pick existing tags or type to create new ones.

Deleting a Skill

Hover the skill card and click the trash icon. A confirmation dialog names the skill; deletion can't be undone. The skill disappears from the server's advertised capabilities.
