Create Agent is the flow you use to start a new AI agent — pick a type, fill in a few details, and land in the right editor to start building.

Overview

From the AI Agents manager, use the New AI Agent button. It's a split button: clicking it starts the create flow, or you can open its dropdown for two choices — Create New AI Agent ("Build a custom AI Agent with specific skills and capabilities") and Add External AI Agent from Bedrock ("Integrate third-party AI Agent from Bedrock to expand capabilities"). The first builds an agent on the platform; the second connects an outside agent. If your workspace has the AI Agent Builder enabled, both New AI Agent and Create New AI Agent open the AI-assisted builder (see AI-Assisted Creation below). Which agent types you can create depends on your workspace's access.

Choosing an Agent Type

When the AI Agent Builder isn't enabled and more than one type is available, creating opens a type picker — Choose an AI Agent type to create — with a card for each option:

Type

Card copy

What happens next

Simple AI Agent

"AI solution to meet your unique business needs."

Drops you straight into the split-view Simple agent editor.

Advanced AI Agent

"AI to deliver personalized interactions across business workflows."

Opens a short details form first.

Workflow AI Agent

"Streamlines complex processes by integrating AI-driven efficiency." (Available only in some environments — not on most tenants.)

Drops you straight into the Workflow agent builder canvas.

Filling in the Advanced Agent Details Form

Choosing Advanced opens a short details form before you reach the editor. It asks for:

Field

Notes

Avatar

An image for the agent.

Name

Required.

Description

Optional.

Department

Only shown when your workspace uses departments.

Workspace

Where the agent is created.

Tags

Optional, for search and organization.

Create it and you land on the agent's Instructions section, ready to configure. A new agent starts from your workspace's default settings — its indexing, response, pre-processing, and guardrail configuration are seeded from the global defaults so it works before you customize anything.

AI-Assisted Creation

When your workspace has the AI Agent Builder enabled, New AI Agent always opens the AI-assisted builder instead of the type picker. You describe what you want, and it generates a starting configuration as a Simple agent that you then refine. To build an Advanced agent instead, choose the builder's option to build manually and pick Advanced — this opens the Advanced details form. Everything the builder creates remains editable.

Duplicating an Existing Agent

Use Clone on any agent (from its row or its editor). The clone dialog lets you name the copy — defaulting to "{name} (clone)" — and pick the workspace, then opens the new copy in its editor. Cloning is the fastest way to spin up a variant of an agent that already works, without rebuilding it from scratch.
