The People area in AI setup is the directory of people your agents can know about, synced from your connected apps.
Overview
The platform syncs people records from your connected apps so agents can reason about who someone is. You connect sources (apps that hold people data), map their fields to a people schema, set a sync schedule, and browse the resulting directory. It's workspace-wide configuration — set it up once and the agents in the project can use it.
Connecting a Source of People Data
Open Sources and pick an app to sync from — "Select an app to sync people data." The screen separates Connected sources (already syncing) from Available sources you can add. Connecting a source lets the platform pull people records from that app into the directory on a schedule you control.
Mapping Fields and Setting Sync
Editing a source walks a short wizard:
Map Fields — choose the Connection in Use and map the source's fields to the people schema (which incoming field is the name, the email, and so on).
Sync Schedule — set Sync Triggers to Manually (the default — no further syncs run until you re-sync the source yourself) or Scheduled (a recurring schedule you define). Whichever you choose, saving the source always starts a sync.
Mapping correctly is what makes the directory accurate; a schedule keeps it current as people change in the source system.
The People Schema
The Schema defines the attributes a person has on the platform — the fields the directory stores for each person. You edit it to add or adjust those attributes so the directory captures what your agents need to know about people. Source fields map onto this schema, so keep the schema aligned with the data your sources actually provide.
Note: Unlike most AI setup screens, the schema does not auto-save: the header carries an explicit Save, and a Discard Changes button appears next to it as soon as you have unsaved edits. The header also offers a Search to jump to a field by name and, on nested schemas, an Expand all fields / Collapse all fields control.
Why Is My Directory Empty or Still Syncing?
What's happening: the Directory shows no people, or a Sync in Progress banner.
Why: either no source is connected yet (the Directory sends you to Sources to connect one), or a connected source is mid-sync.
Fix:
Open Sources and confirm at least one source is connected and its connection is healthy.
Check the source's field mapping and sync schedule.
Wait for Sync in Progress to finish, or trigger a manual sync.
