How long the platform keeps your data before automatic deletion.
Overview
The Data Retention page ("Define the period for which your data can be stored on the platform") sets a platform-wide retention policy: "Set your desired retention period... Our system will automatically delete data older than the specified time frame. You can update this setting at any time... Remember to consider legal requirements, balance operational needs, and regularly review your retention period." It may not appear in every environment's settings navigation — it's reached at Settings › Data Retention where enabled.

FAQs
What do the fields mean?
Retention Period (required) — "Specify the number of days your data will be stored on our platform before automatic deletion. Enter whole numbers only." The value must be "between one(1) day and the maximum limit of your Data Retention Package" — so your plan caps how long data can be kept.
Job Frequency (required) — "Set how often the data retention job runs to clean up expired data based on the above specified retention period. Default frequency is set as 'Daily'." — choose Daily, Monthly, or Yearly.
Deletion isn't instant at expiry: data past the retention period is removed the next time the cleanup job runs.

What happens when I save?
Save first asks you to confirm — "Save Changes? Please confirm before applying any changes to data retention settings" — because shortening the period makes older data eligible for automatic, unrecoverable deletion on the next job run. Cancel backs out without applying anything.

Is there also per-object retention?
Yes — independent of this platform-wide policy, each Storage object can define its own retention in its settings (a duration plus unit, optionally keyed to a date field on the record). That per-object retention is enforced by the data store itself (records expire and are removed automatically once past their duration). Use the platform setting for the blanket policy and per-object retention where a specific dataset needs a shorter life — see the Objects docs for the object-level controls.
